I’m impressed.
Disney has been leading the way against X, formerly Twitter, by pulling all of their advertising and making a big deal over what they see as perceived hate speech on the platform.
Now, the fact that they still advertise on Facebook after it was shown to be a massive center for child prostitution should tell you this is not really about what they are saying it is.
Musk, the owner of X, has consistently criticized Disney for putting politics ahead of business. And today, he made a master chess move.
A few years ago, Gina Carano was fired from the Disney/Lucasfilm show The Madalorian after being accused of posting hateful speech on Twitter. Today, she sued Disney and Lucasfilm (although I haven’t read the suit as to specifically why) for wrongful termination.
And Musk is funding it.
Assuming this case has factual basis to not get immediately thrown out, I can only imagine discovery of all the emails plus the depositions about Carano are going to be insanely embarrassing for Disney as it certainly is not afraid to show off their political beliefs.
This is absolutely brilliant. Musk has found a way to significantly damage the reputation of his largest enemy, probably hurting their stock price, sales, and maybe even starting a boycott Ala Bud Light depending upon what comes out in discovery.
What a move. Check Disney. Your move.
