I’ve been following along closely about the number of immigrants entering the US during this administration. There is a lot of conflicting information but here’s what I see.
First off, it’s clear Biden wants it to happen. He passed numerous executive orders on his first day in office that have allowed tens of millions of immigrants to settle in the US. He and his administration have also done very little to stop it. When Texas takes over border crossings to shut them down, the DOJ threatens to sue and Biden literally issues threats to send in federal forces to remove the state controlled national guard soldiers.
It bothers and confuses me why the President would allow this to happen.
And to be clear, it is already fully within the President’s power to put an end to this almost instantly by enforcing laws that already exist. No new laws are necessary to fix this situation. Even the Border Patrol Union has been screaming this for months and asking that they be allowed to do their job.
Second, it’s easy to look around and see that this is a bad thing. The situation in New York is insane. Services for Americans are having to be cut to fund the costs of housing and feeding immigrants. Quality of life across the country is going down as funding is diverted. I’ve recently been feeling it here in Boston. This is untenable and a very bad look for the President in a re-election year. Not to mention I’m sure there is a huge amount of waste and probably corruption rampant in the process.
Third, it amazes me how much we are helping these people and not Americans. Boston today announced a program to get government paid apartments for thousands of illegals yet homeless Americans, especially homeless veterans, get no such assistance. The comments on the Instagram post were filled with rage and vitriol from Bostonians saying they will never vote Democrat again. It boggles my mind why local politicians would fall on this sword.
Why are we helping non-US citizens with government handouts more than American citizens, even those who pay taxes and have jobs? It’s baffling. The number of homeless Americans is even a fraction of the number of immigrants but we don’t bother to help them out nearly to the extent many local governments are now helping new arrivals. We absolutely need to prioritize the safety and well being of Americans before then assisting immigrants.
So this all culminated tonight in the impeachment of HHS Secretary Mayorkas. Now, I don’t think he’s guilty of high crimes and misdemeanors, but I think it sends a good signal. Although I’m not sure he’s not doing exactly the job he was told to by the White House.
The Federal government is basically broke despite what you may say. We have $34,000,000,000,000 in debt. Further debt right now is doled out at very high interest rates. We spend over a trillion a year on interest. The dollar is being abandoned internationally. All of this means we simply cannot afford massive deficit spending and it’s already showing that local governments cannot afford this situation.
Unless something is done, the fiscal reality of having to care for so many migrants will take a huge toll on this country. It needs to come to an end, and not a moment too soon.
