Merry Christmas to those of you who celebrate it.
A little different article today as I ponder what is important to me today. As I navigate dating in today’s world and hear so much from others not to mention hear so much about it both from friends and on Youtube, I can’t help but sense one thing that seems to be missing - Romance. Everything seems to be very pragmatic whether it be able raw sexual attraction or about what makes a good partner. Very little about being romantically attracted to your partner.
See, I’ve been a hopeless romantic from an early age. I was lucky enough to fall in love in high school and then again early in college. I have named my two dogs after Katherine Clifton from The English Patient and Rheya Kelvin from Solaris, my two favorite female romantic characters in all of the history of film. The scenes from these movies are among my favorites of all time. I spend my own dating life being as romantic as I can, usually chasing people who are sadly much more realistic in their beliefs. I seek love, comfort, affection and stability above all else while others have many more down to earth goals, not to say they are wrong.
But I will say I think if modern couples focused more on raw compatibility we might all be a little happier. If men were to care less about attractiveness and women cared a little less about income and height, maybe we might all get along more.
Today is a day to enjoy being close to those you love and it’s always important to keep the romance alive with your partner. Don’t ever forget that.
Merry Christmas again.
